My dream vacation is my bedroom...

ree

Time, I never seem to have enough of it. Always behind is how I feel most days. Don't get me wrong, I love my life but sometimes (well most times) I am just TIRED! Making my bedroom serene and inviting is a must so I definitely want the same for my guests.

A guest bedroom has many aspects but the star of this space must always be the bed. I chose soft colors and cotton fabrics with patterns that had a cottage feel. I added 4 pillows to the bed so that my guests could choose just the right one to sleep on. A lot of times I pile lots of accent pillows on my beds but I decided to add one special pillow that would really bring joy.

Since this bedroom is not a large space I did not use a footboard for this bed. While no footboard was the right choice to open up the room, the bed still needed something to add some interest. I decided to add an oversized tray with handles to the foot of the bed. It is important to have handles on the tray so that guests can easily pick up the tray and place it on the dresser at bedtime.

On the tray I added a vase full of cream astilbe for a fresh touch of nature. Real flowers are always nice but not always convenient. Plus real flowers tend to shatter and make messes so I opted for some real look faux blooms for this design.

Next I added a gray rabbit and a book. Books are a favorite decorating accent of mine. Sometimes I thrift old ones and sometimes I make a new one look old. It is very easy to age a newer hard back book. I simply "brown" up the edges of the pages with brown eyeshadow that I dab on my finger. I take sandpaper to the spine and corners of the book. Voila! an "old" book is ready to add beauty and comfort to your home.

I added a small desk clock with a vintage design to round out the look.

ree

My rabbit originally came with a raffia bow but I opted to change to a soft green velvet ribbon. This is an easy way to add a touch that makes a big impact. Not only does it change the style but it also complements the other colors in my room.

ree

PRO TIP: I use double sided tape to attach bows to things so that I can easily reuse the ribbon elsewhere.
