Three Ways to Style One Lantern for Fall 🍂

One of my favorite things about decorating is finding a piece that can be used over and over again in completely different ways. During our latest LIVE, I started with one simple white architectural lantern and gave it three distinct fall looks.
The same lantern, three different personalities—and plenty of ideas you can borrow for your own home!

Look One: A Classic Thanksgiving Moment
For the first look, I went warm and traditional with a beautiful carved turkey nestled inside the lantern. Rich rust, burgundy and orange foliage surrounds the base, while a soft velvet bow adds the finishing touch at the top.
I paired it with tall brass candlesticks and creamy decorative acorns to give the whole arrangement a collected, layered feel.
This is such an easy way to transition your fall décor into Thanksgiving without completely redecorating. A few seasonal pieces can change the entire look.

Look Two: A Little Woodland Whimsy
The second look has so much personality!
A sweet woodland squirrel takes center stage inside the lantern, surrounded by fall florals and a glowing candle. Another squirrel—complete with his little glasses and book—sits nearby on a mushroom.
For this version, I added foliage to the top of the lantern instead of a bow, giving it a completely different silhouette from the first arrangement.
It’s warm and whimsical without feeling overly themed, and it’s a fun example of how mixing decorative figures with florals can make a vignette feel like it tells a little story.

Look Three: Rustic Fall with Berries & Acorns
For the third look, I changed direction again with twisting branches covered in bright orange berries.
The branches weave around and through the lantern, creating a loose, natural shape. Inside, an amber candle adds a warm glow while dark squirrels and oversized textured acorns bring in deeper fall tones.
I especially love the contrast in this one—the bright berries against the dark squirrels, the distressed white lantern and all those wonderful natural textures.
It feels a little more rustic and organic, and it shows that fall decorating doesn't always have to mean traditional pumpkins and leaves.
One Piece, So Many Possibilities
That’s really what I wanted to show during this LIVE: you don’t necessarily need more décor—you can find new ways to use the pieces you already love.
Start with one great foundation piece, like this lantern, and change what you put inside it, around it and on top of it. Florals, candles, seasonal figures, ribbon and small accessories can completely transform it.
And, of course, this lantern doesn't have to stop with fall. Just imagine what we could do with it for Christmas! 🎄
